A full-time position suitable for a laboratory technician or research engineer is available at Institut Pasteur in Paris to participate in a collaborative project between the Insect-Virus Interactions Unit (https://research.pasteur.fr/en/team/insect-virus-interactions) and the Mouse Genetics Laboratory (https://research.pasteur.fr/en/team/mouse-genetics/). The successful candidate will contribute to experimental studies on Zika virus transmission involving cell lines, mice and mosquitoes.
The primary missions of the person will be to perform:
- Molecular biology experiments (nucleic acid preparation, RTqPCR, PCR, etc.)
- Cell culture-based assays (virus titration, immunofluorescence assays, etc.)
- Mouse experiments in vivo, including virus infection and animal follow-up
- Mosquito experiments in vivo, including rearing, virus infection and dissections
Applicants must have a technical apprenticeship (2 years post baccalaureate) or a higher qualification in biological sciences, and at least 2 years of professional experience in virology in a biosafety level-2 or preferably level-3 laboratory. Prior experience with mosquitoes is desirable but not necessary. Regulatory certification for project designers in animal experimentation (rodents) would also be a plus. Scientific rigor, organizational skills, high motivation, English proficiency and ability to work collaboratively and communicate effectively are essential.
The position is available immediately and will remain open until filled. The expected start date is any time between May and September 2023. The position is initially for 12 months with a possible extension for another 36 months. Salary will be commensurate with experience according to the institutional guidelines.
