A little guide for advanced search:

  • Tip 1. You can use quotes "" to search for an exact expression.
    Example: "cell division"
  • Tip 2. You can use + symbol to restrict results containing all words.
    Example: +cell +stem
  • Tip 3. You can use + and - symbols to force inclusion or exclusion of specific words.
    Example: +cell -stem
e.g. searching for members in projects tagged cancer

A PTR-funded PostDoc position is available at the Institut Pasteur, Biology of Spirochetes unit, in Paris. Our team is interested in studyingLeptospira pathogenicity by studying the evolution and virulence of pathogenic species of the bacterial genus Leptospira. Leptospirosis is an emerging and neglected zoonotic disease which is of global concern. The selected candidate will use Illumina-based deep sequencing of well-characterized Leptospira strains from different origins and bioinformatics to increase our understanding of the global diversity and virulence evolution of Leptospira. The candidate will also work on genetic manipulation of Leptospira strains to identify virulence factors. We believe this work will provide the fundamental basis for hypothesis-driven research to characterize new virulence factors and a rich resource for biological studies on isolates associated with specific clinical presentations and outcomes. Genome analysis will also allow us to develop new detection and diagnostic tools and new molecular typing techniques. Candidates should have a PhD with a background in bio-informatics, bacterial genetics, bacterial pathogenesis, and molecular biology. Experience in microbial genetics is a plus.
The position is for 18 months, starting in january 2018, and may be renewed for one additional year. Candidates should send a motivation letter, their CV, a publication list and the contact addresses of two referees to mpicard@pasteur.fr.
