We are pleased to announce a post-doctoral position in Microbiology at the Institut Pasteur Paris, in the lab of Frédéric Barras. The position will be open for a duration of two years starting in January 2024.
Our lab focuses on various aspects of Fe-S cluster biology, ranging from biosynthesis to their crucial role in the activity of Fe-S proteins, as well as bacterial phenotypes, including resistance to stress and antibiotics. We have a strong expertise in bacterial genetics, metabolism and biochemistry and a long term experience in Fe-S biology. We propose a post-doctoral opportunity to explore Fe-S biogenesis in Shigella species. We observed a strong polymorphism of the Fe-S biosynthesis systems within Shigella species. We propose to exploit the Shigella model as an atypical case of Fe-S biogenesis evolution and to decipher how this evolution meets with the need of Shigella to multiply and infect its host. This project will be carried out in collaboration with two other labs expert of Shigella genomics and pathogenicity.
Our lab provides a friendly and stimulating environment to work and the Institut Pasteur is a prestigious research center with a lot of facilities to develop ambitious project.
The candidate should have a strong background in Molecular Biology, Microbiology and good skills in Biochemistry would be highly valued.
Application including i) a cover letter summarizing your qualifications and motives for applying, ii) a curriculum vitae, and iii) the names and contact details of two references should be sent to Sarah Dubrac and Frédéric Barras (sarah.dubrac@pasteur.fr and frederic.barras@pasteur.fr)
We look forward to receiving your applications!
