On February 17th at 2PM, Dr. Claas Kirchhelle will give a lecture via zoom on “Antibiotics and AMR – a short history of a 120 year old health challenge”.
Dr Claas Kirchhelle is an historian of science, medicine and technology. His research focuses on the global history of antibiotic use, resistance, and regulation. This seminar explores the past and present of antibiotic use, regulation, and resistance since 1905. It reconstructs the history of antibiotic innovation, rise of antibiotic infrastructures in healthcare and food production systems, and asks why regulating antimicrobials and resistant microbes has proven so complicated.
