The Neuroscience community at the Institut Pasteur (https://research.pasteur.fr/en/department/neuroscience and https://www.pasteur.fr/en/our-missions/strategic-plan-2019-2023/brain-connectivity-and-neurodegenerative-diseases) is in an exciting position to expand the number and diversity of faculty and research programs. Outstanding candidates in the starting and mid-career levels are invited to apply for an independent group leader position on the Institut Pasteur campus in Paris, France. We seek candidates working on either cellular and molecular neurobiology, molecular genetics, circuits and systems neuroscience, computational neuroscience, or cognitive neuroscience. Research projects related to understanding and improving human health are encouraged. We welcome research programs that include studies of brain diseases and use rodent models, human tissue, or human subjects. Candidates should show a willingness to develop cross-disciplinary research collaborations within the institute.

Institut Pasteur is a non-profit private foundation dedicated to fundamental, interdisciplinary research and to the translation of knowledge for applications in medicine and public health (https://research.pasteur.fr/en/departments) Institut Pasteur is an equal opportunity employer, values diverse perspectives and is committed to continually supporting, promoting, and building an inclusive and culturally diverse campus environment. The Institute Pasteur is located in the center of Paris and offers an outstanding research environment with state-of-the-art research laboratories, twenty technology platforms (https://research.pasteur.fr/en/center/c2rt), and a large bioinformatics and biostatistics support hub (https://c3bi.pasteur.fr/hub).

Start-up packages are highly competitive and support high-risk, high-return research programs. Packages include: 1) Tenured Principal Investigator salary if needed, 2) other institutional salaries (e.g., technician and post-doctoral fellows), 2) a substantial contribution to running costs and equipment, 3) access to state-of-the-art technology core facilities, and 4) support for relocation expenses and administrative issues.

Eligibility: G5 track junior group leaders must be less than 8 years after PhD, while G5+ track group leaders must be less than 12 years after PhD at the time of submission. For the G5 track, women are eligible up to 10 years after their PhD if they have one child and up to 12 years after their PhD if they have two or more children. For the G5+ track, women are eligible up to 14 years after their PhD if they have one child and up to 16 years after their PhD if they have two or more children. Candidates with more than 12 years of experience after PhD will be considered as “mid-career.”

Starting investigators will be awarded a laboratory for a 5-year period (G5/G5+), after which productive laboratories will be invited to remain for a subsequent 10-year, renewable period. Mid-career investigators will be awarded a laboratory for a 10-year renewable period.

The template for the application can be downloaded at here.

Applications should be sent as a single PDF file to Neuro2023@pasteur.fr
